The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provides useful data regarding hospitals, nursing homes, and home health agencies that serve patients with Medicare or Medicaid.  Their website is located at http://cms.hhs.gov/

IPRO downloads data from CMS sources quarterly.  A primary data source is https://data.medicare.gov/, from which we use the following data sets:

Currently we use Hospital Compare for the majority of our public use data, which includes the following sets of measures:

• Process and Structural CMS Measures - Heart Failure, Heart Attack, Pneumonia, Asthma and Surgical Care measure.  Also includes Structural CMS measures, OP/ED
• HCAHPS Measures - Patient Satisfaction Survey result data
• Emergency Department and Outpatient Measures - Emergency Department and Outpatient Service measures
• Readmissions and Mortality Data
• HAIs and HACs - Healthcare Associated Infections and Conditions
